Formerly known as “Kalimche”, Göcek was founded between Telmessos (today’s Fethiye) and Kaunos (today’s Dalyan)

According to the legend, Ikarus has made an attempt to escape from the tower where he was imprisoned and made that famous flight,  fell down to Fethiye Bay that is in Göcek area.
